Amongst others he’s a Board Member of the Dutch Employers Federation, Supervisory Board Member of the NHTV University of Applied Sciences and Chairman of the Foundation of the Dutch Magazine on HRM.Lucas has worked for Philips, Shell, KPN in HR, managerial and commercial roles and since 2001 as VP HR Commercial & Global of KLM, responsible for all worldwide HR matters and particularly involved in the post-merger processes with Air France. In 2016, he became the Director HRM of the University of Amsterdam (UvA), the largest University in the Netherlands with 31,000 students and 6,000 employees from over 100 countries residing in over 80 buildings in and around the historic city of Amsterdam. In Lucas’ mind, the main people theme for HR in Europe is how to adapt our associations, companies, institutions and societies to the challenges of our times whilst at the same time strive for inclusion of our (future) workforce. To be relevant, HR should be in the heart of that discussion: bridging differences, building bridges and giving voice to others. The EAPM, its 31 national member associations and its 250000 HR professionals all take part in this professional challenge to build a better future, a better workplace and a better Europe.
